  • Complete and return the questionnaire
  • Receive your certificate of completion
  • Take this or mail it to a Fair Trading Centre (phone 13 32 20)
  • Receive your owner-builder permit from Fair Trading - over the counter or in the mail
  • Obtain your construction permit from your local Council or Licensed Building Inspector

To be an accredited owner-builder in NSW...

  1. Complete an approved owner-builder information course
  2. Obtain an owner-builder permit (from the NSW Office of Fair Trading)
  3. Obtain a construction permit (from your local Council or Licensed Inspector)
